Welcome to Westlands care home in Rugby, located just half a mile from the town centre. The home combines support with care that helps residents live life as independently as possible.   Â
At Westlands, we provide:
Everyone’s different, so we take the time to really get to know each resident and their family, making sure life continues in the way they want it to.
Westlands has 41 bedrooms including ground floor and ensuite rooms where available. The home is designed as three households, each with its own lounge, dining area and kitchenette.
The household décor reflects three main lifestyles, town, country, and classical living and hallways are decorated with displays that reflect hobbies, interests and local history to encourage spontaneous conversations between residents, staff, and visitors.
Quiet lounges, and the conservatory on the lower ground floor, provide spots for reading, hobbies, or a change of scenery. The café is a relaxed space to catch up over a cuppa and cake and the on-site hair salon, offers unisex hairdressing and manicures.
Daily life centres around the living areas where residents get together and socialise or spend time with their friends and family. Residents can choose to:
Volunteers from The Gift of Years Rugby also visit the home regularly to provide services of worship, befriending, singing groups and one-to-one activities.

In Emma’s words, she “fell into care”, thinking it would be a way to build experience for the job she wanted as an army medic. Instead, she discovered how rewarding the work is and never looked back.
Joining WCS Care in 2012, Emma worked nights at Newlands to fit around family life before progressing to Care Manager at Castle Brook and then Westlands. Emma loves helping residents to live life their way and enjoys thinking outside the box to make that happen.

Geanie joined the Westlands team in 2021 and is often the first person you’ll speak to on the phone or see as you walk through the front doors.
As a child, Geanie learnt about treating everyone with kindness and respect from her family and some special neighbours. These principles have shaped Geanie throughout her life and career and helped her connect with people, from handling sensitive conversations in her previous role as a funeral director to building relationships with residents and their loved ones in her current role as Concierge.
Geanie enjoys the interactions she has with residents, be it sharing life stories or surprising them with her favourite Indian dishes.

Tish joined WCS Care in 2018, starting as a carer at Drovers House and has worked her way up to her current role. What began as a stepping-stone at 17 soon became her passion – caring for people. She loves building strong relationships with residents and their families.
Tish helps keep the home running smoothly by carrying out resident assessments, writing care plans, organising rotas and ensuring risk assessments are in place. Coming from a big family, she enjoys being around people every day.

Julia followed in her mum’s footsteps in 2015 when she became Housekeeper at Westlands, a place that’s always felt like part of her family. Her role covers everything from cleaning and infection control to keeping the home well-maintained, making sure residents always have a safe and welcoming environment.
For Julia, it’s about more than the practical side of the job. She loves the variety each day brings and takes pride in helping residents personalise their rooms, adding comfort, memories and little touches that make Westlands feel like home.

Mel joined Westlands in 2024 after working in a variety of roles, including emergency response and patient transport with the ambulance service. She first came to the home to visit her friend’s mum and quickly got to know everyone well.
Mel especially enjoys building strong connections with residents, listening to their stories and finding activities they love, such as karaoke, dancing and bingo.

Here are just a few of the faces that make up our team at Westlands.
No matter what their role is, every member of our team is a carer at heart and contributes to the day-to-day experience of our residents. We know we’re only as good as our last act of care, so we recruit team members who embody our values whilst also simply being themselves, bringing all of their different personalities, interests and passions to work to create a diverse team of carers.
