A bit about Dewar Close care home

Welcome to Dewar Close care home in Rugby. Located in Bilton, about 1.5 miles from the town centre, the home provides care to help residents live life as independently as possible while feeling supported every day.

What type of care do we provide?

At Dewar Close, we provide:

  • Residential care – long-term, 24-hour support for older people
  • Dementia care â€“ supporting people living with dementia
  • Respite care – short-term stays to give carers a break or help someone recover after an illness

Every person is different, so we work closely with residents and their families to make sure life continues in the way they want it to.

Spaces that feel like home

Dewar Close has 43 bedrooms in total, including some ensuite and ground floor rooms, where available. The home has three separate households, each with its own lounge, dining area and kitchenette, where residents can make their own snacks and drinks if they wish.

Each household is designed in one of three lifestyles, based on town, country or classical living, with decorations in the hallways reflecting hobbies, interests and local information. This is because the space in between places creates more opportunities for conversation and reminiscence.

There is a café next to the reception area where residents and family can get-together, a hair salon for unisex hairdressing, Buddies Bungalow for arts, crafts and small group activities and a garden with patio areas, lawns, raised flower beds and a cycle path for our side-by-side bike.

Life at Dewar Close

Daily life centres around the living areas where residents meet to socialise, relax or join in activities. Residents can choose to:

  • take part in regular activities such as crafts, baking, gentle exercise and games, tailored to individual interests
  • join in with one-to-one and group music sessions led by WCS Care’s Community Musicians
  • enjoy fresh air in the gardens or use the cycle path with the side-by-side bike
  • go out on local trips on the Memory Maker minibus to places such as local parks, garden centres and pubs for lunch. The minibus is wheelchair accessible and open to relatives who want to join

We also welcome volunteers from The Gift of Years Rugby, who provide befriending, worship and singing groups, as well as children from the local nursery for intergenerational activities.
