Drayton Court provides long-term residential, and respite, care for older people and people living with dementia.
The home has three households and a larger lounge on the ground floor which residents use for events such as parties and watching films on the big screen.
The households are designed in one of three lifestyles based on town, country and classical living. Hobbies, interests and local information are represented in the hallway decorations because we recognise that the space in-between places creates more opportunities for conversation and reminiscence.
Daily life centres around the living areas where residents get together with family and friends. Residents and family can use the kitchenettes on each household to make snacks and drinks, or ask staff to help. You'll often find regular activities happening in the living area or we might be outside in the garden. Residents are encouraged to spend time outside as often as possible using the paved courtyard, gardens and conservatory. There's also a beauty salon offering unisex hairdressing and manicures.
As part of our activity provision, WCS Care employs dedicated Community Musicians who deliver one-to-one or group music-based activities. And our Memory Maker minibus provides regular, local trips for residents, including those who need to use a wheelchair. We invite relatives to join our trips so families can make new memories together.
WCS Care offers the Relatives’ Gateway service for relatives with the necessary consent in place. This is an innovation that picks up most care and activities in real time, creating text from icons selected by staff. Loved ones and staff can also use the gateway to send pictures and messages, keeping everyone up-to-date anywhere in the world with an internet connection. You can sign into the gateway using the link at the top of the website.
Mel joined WCS Care in 2018. Having started her career as a carer, Mel has worked in a number of our homes to build her experience, working her way up to become Home Manager.
Mel is passionate about creating a home where residents can have a good social life, companionship and top quality care.
Aimee began her journey with WCS Care in 2009 as a 16-year-old apprentice, working toward her Level 2 diploma. Over time, she's worked in various roles from frontline care to Care Manager and now Deputy Home Manager.
Drayton Court holds a special place in Aimee’s heart, as she's spent nearly half of her life in the home. She considers the residents and staff as her extended family, feeling continuously valued and supported by her team.
Aimee’s passionate about making Drayton Court a safe, fun and loving place for everyone who walks through our doors.
