Reindeer land at Woodside in Warwick for a flying visit

89-year-old Val, who lives at Woodside, meets reindeer in the run-up to Christmas

Two reindeer landed in Warwick for a flying visit to help mark the start of Christmas celebrations for residents living at their Woodside home.

Mistletoe and Chester, from The Phoenix Children’s Foundation in Leicestershire, were invited along to the Spinney Hill home with their handlers last week (13 December), as part of the festivities. It’s the first time the reindeer have dropped in for a visit.

Woodside is run by Warwickshire-based charity WCS Care, which is the first care home provider in England to be recognised with five ‘outstanding’ ratings from the Care Quality Commission.

Clive Mackreth, Home Manager at Woodside, said: ‘Mistletoe and Chester played a big part in our Christmas celebrations this year, and residents were delighted to welcome them to the home to join in with the festivities.

People living at Woodside and their families loved seeing these amazing animals, and it’s a great way to experience something they may not otherwise have had the opportunity to do.’
