WCS Care launches new traineeship for next generation of Warwickshire carers

Full-time apprenticeships are waiting for the next generation of carers in Warwickshire who successfully complete a new Traineeship being launched by WCS Care.

Developed in partnership with training experts Midlands Training & Development, the six-week programme is due to start on 12 September 2016 and will see trainees begin to learn the wide range of skills needed to start a professional career as a care worker with WCS Care.

The not-for-profit care home provider runs 12 homes across Warwickshire - including four recognised as outstanding by the Care Quality Commission - offering specialist care and support for older people and people with disabilities.

With support from WCS Care and Midlands Training & Development, trainees will be able to study for a formal qualification while gaining valuable work experience at homes in Rugby, Warwick and Kenilworth, with 14 places available across the group.

After successfully completing the programme, trainees will have the opportunity to progress onto a full-time apprenticeship at WCS Care.

Applications should be made through the National Apprenticeship Service website.

Clare McKenzie, Commercial Director at Midlands Training & Development, said: 'We're delighted to be working with WCS Care on this initiative.

'The Traineeship is a fantastic platform for aspiring care professionals who up until now may have lacked the experience required by an employer; they will have the unique opportunity of boosting their knowledge and developing their skills within an exemplary care organisation.

'Furthermore, successful completion of the programme will provide participants with ample opportunities for future career progression.'

Christine Asbury, Chief Executive at WCS Care, added: 'At WCS Care, we work hard to ensure that every day is a day well lived - putting residents in charge of their life is at the heart of that philosophy.

'Delivering the highest quality care is a given and our values are fundamental to helping us achieve this - so if joining an organisation where you can play, make someone's day, be there and choose your attitude sounds appealing, the Traineeship could be for you.'
